Blackburn

My mother had copd and went to hospital after struggling to breathe.

No visiting allowed at the time. She was given midazolam and morphine without any consultation with her family. She had just turned 75 and was not at deaths door but once these lethal medications given she died shortly after.

She had rang the police to say she was being held against her will and the first thing she said to me when I was allowed to go was that she had rang the police and she didn’t want to die. On further investigation I discovered she had hardly eaten and the 10 hours we was at hospital before having insisted on her being fast tracked home to die , not one nurse or support worker came to see if she wanted anything to eat or drink.

Liverpool care pathway springs to mind. She died the day after. In my opinion if she hadn’t have gone into hospital she would still be here
