Perthshire - Whistleblower
I worked as a carer in a charity run care home for dementia 17 years. The residents were always well looked after.
Four years ago a new manager took over - not a thought for residents. Expected 1 carer to assist 17 residents with breakfast , prepare breakfast, walk to residents room and assist to feed. All this had to be done in 2 hours. No residents got a full breakfast, plus they timed residents up in the morning, you had to write the time you went into room.
Went to committee with other carer , they weren’t interested. I left 6 months ago along with lots more long term staff . I really feel for residents as not good care being provided, but if management don’t care, what can carers do.
